CEZ Group signed on September 4th the contract with General Electric for the supply of the wind turbines to be installed on the Cogealac phase of the Wind Farm project in Dobrogea, Romania
The selected wind turbine supplier for the second part of CEZ's Wind Farm in Cogealac, Dobrogea area is GE Energy - one of the world's leading suppliers of power generation and energy delivery technologies.
The contract signed on September 4th includes the sale of wind turbine generators with installation, startup, commissioning and also maintenance services.
For the 252.5 MW part of the Wind Farm, GE Energy will supply 101 wind turbines generators of 2.5 MW each. The 2.5 xl wind turbines with 100 m hub height and 100 m rotor diameter represent GE is most advanced wind turbine technology in terms of efficiency, reliability and grid connection capabilities, and are of the same type as the ones currently being installed by GE for the Fantanele Wind Farm stage (139 units).
Together with the sale and delivery of the wind turbine generators, GE Energy will supply to the CEZ Group also the installation, startup and commissioning services, including transportation and reliability runs.
As well included in the contract, the maintenance services will be complex and managed from a Service station GE is currently building close to the Wind Farm in order to provide to CEZ Group the best support on all the turbines located at Fantanele and Cogealac.
CEZ Group is building in Romania - Dobrogea area, County of Constanta - the largest onshore wind farm in Europe, with a total capacity of 600 megawatts, approximately double the size of the next largest fully permitted onshore wind farm in Europe, and triple the size of the largest current operational wind farm in Europe. The first stage of the Project will be finalized during the first part of 2010, and the second stage (Cogealac) is expected to be implemented in 2011. The total investment of the CEZ Group into the project will reach ? 1.1 billion.
