Eni Norge AS selects Sevan 1000 for Goliat

Eni Norge has selected the Sevan 1000 FPSO as the preferred concept for the floating production platform to be installed on the Goliat field in the Barents Sea.

The selection of the Sevan 1000 FPSO concept entails that Sevan Marine has been chosen as the Contractor for the Goliat Project FPSO Post Feed Engineering Contract.

Sevan will grant a license to Eni for the use of the Sevan 1000 FPSO on the Goliat field.

- The selection of the Sevan 1000 FPSO on the Goliat field demonstrates the competitiveness of Norwegian technology for challenging offshore environments, says Jan Erik Tveteraas, CEO of Arendal based Sevan Marine ASA.

Proven solution

The Sevan 1000 FPSO has been developed by Sevan Marine, based on Sevan's proprietary technology, and will have an oil production capacity of 100,000 bbls/day, a gas production of 3.9 million Sm3/day and an oil storage capacity of 1 million bbls.

The FPSO will be especially designed for environmentally friendly operations and energy recovery. Electrification from shore will provide reduced emission of CO2 and the oil containment system will reduce the risk for oil pollution. The oil containment system will be protected by ballast tanks in the sides and bottom area. There will be no contact between the oil and the ballast water, preventing the emission of polluted ballast water. The specially designed winterisation solution will provide good working conditions for the crew.

Previously, Sevan has entered into agreements for delivery of four Sevan 300 FPSOs for oil production and three Sevan 650 platforms for drilling. Three production platforms have already been installed offshore, of which two in the central UK North Sea and one in Brasil.

The Italian energy company Eni is operator on Goliat with an ownership of 65%, while StatoilHydro has an ownership of 35%.
