The Coulonges wind farm, located in the Poitou-Charentes region, is Enel Green Power France’s largest plant in the country with its 36 MW.

Enel Green Power has started operating its largest wind farm in France, with 36 MW of installed capacity from 18 wind turbines of 2 MW each. The Coulonges wind farm is located in the municipalities of Coulonges-Thouarsais, La Chapelle-Gaudin, Noirterre, in the Deux Sèvres department (Poitou-Charentes).

The plant will produce 90 million kWh per year, meeting the annual energy needs of about 27,000 households: the energy produced by the farm will avoid the emission of 70,000 tons of CO2.

“With the Coulonges wind farm, our largest in France, we confirm our commitment to strengthen and expand our presence in such a promising market for renewable energy, leveraging on our know-how in all the main renewable technologies, from hydro and geothermal, to wind, solar and biomass,” Francesco Starace, CEO of Enel Green Power said.

With the Coulonges wind farm, Enel Green Power France’s total installed capacity in reaches 138 MW, with an annual production of about 300 million kWh. Other wind power plants for additional 28 MW are currently at an advanced construction phase. Enel Green Power can also count on additional development opportunities from a project pipeline in hydro, solar and wind of about 1,000 MW.
